Too much fun and sun

Well the hot Cabo sun and the crazy fun we've been having has finally caught up to us all. We went back out this morning and hit the wave runners hard, then came back to the pool for a game of Caballo. (That's HORSE in Spanish). Brant, Darrin and Riley went back into town for a little while to sight see and pick up a few last minute things while Brian, Avery and Dad stayed at the pool. We were all back in the room and asleep by noon. We napped until around 3 and then went back down to the pool for activites of various kinds. We're all, kids included, complaining of bodily soreness from fishing and wave runner-ing, volleyball, basketball, ping pong, walking down the beach and around town, eating... you name it, we've over-done it.

The only video we shot today was a little wave runner action. Unfortunately the camera came out of it's high-tech waterproof housing (Ziploc bag with a hole cut in itand taped around the lens) so it's not very good. I'm just too tired to hold the camera up above my waist anymore. Still having a greta time. Enjoy.

Nothing but FUN!!!

Today we went out on Waver Runners. It was a blast. Riley and I shared one while Brian and Avery went out on their own. We got some good footage you just have to see. Tomorrow we are going back out again and I think we're all going to get our own machines.

We spent the afternoon shopping for trinkets to bring home to loved ones. We then had lunch at our favorite place "The Crazy Lobster". The food was great. We came back to the resort and spent the reast fo the day in the pool playing basketball and volleyball. We had a blast. Heading downtown for dinner.
Enjoy the video.

Wave Running

Here we are out shopping for trinkets and grabbing a bite to eat.

We went out to the Giggling Marlin, a rather infamous local restaurant with a show and some unusl antics to entertain the tourists. You'll see what I mean.

Close your eyes. It's scary.

Avery

A little show for the tourists.

Having a great time. Riley is having a blast. It's the best trip ever.
Love everyone. Miss you all.

We caught Marlin

The video is taking forever to upload but suffice to say... Fishing was great. Riley caught the first Marlin. It was a striper and weighed about 185 pounds. He got it in the boat after more than an hour in the chair fighting it. Avery hooked two but lost them both after short fighhts. Brian got hooked up and fought for a while. He had the chair while I hooked mine and had to fight it standing in the back of the boat for 20 minutes until Brian finally lost his due to a broken line. After another hour of fighting it, I finally got it in the boat. We hooked a few more, but never landed anything else.
All in all... it was a good day.
Went straight to the pool when we got back and we're now headed down the beach to get some dinner at the Office.
I have video of it all. Please be patient and check back later tonight.
Miss you all.
Darrin

OK... Before we get to the Marlin Videos... I wanted to show you all the Condo. It's freakin gorgeous. We have the Presidential Suite where all of the website Promotional shots are taken from and of. Enjoy.

Now... on to the good stuff.
This is us pulling out of the docks and introducing the crew.

Sunrise over Cabo

Riley hooks a Marlin

20 minutes later and still fighting

He gets it to the surface

45 minutes later and he is STILL fighting it. With a little help from his dear old dad.

He finally brings it on board more than an hour after he hooked it.

Tired... but excited.

Avery gets on a fish

He fought it for about 15 minutes, but then it got away...

This bitof video is where Brian and Darrin both hooked into Marlins at the same time. Brian had the chair and I had to stand in the boat and fight the fish. That left only Avery and Riley to run the video camera. It's cinema verite for sure. But you get to see more of me without my shirt on. If you're in to that kind of thing.

My fish is finally spent from more than an hour of fighting and comes to the boat with nothing left in him.

When we got back to the condo, we immediately hit the pool.

Walked down the beach for Dinner at the Mambo Deck restaurant. Grandpa told them it was Brian's birthday. They brought him down on stage and humiliated him in front of hundreds of patrons. Inluding a bare bottom spanking and a lapdance from a man. He was tied to a chair at the time. Unfortunately my video camera was back at the condo uploading the days catch videos. Use your imagination. then double it.

Tomorrow is Wave Runners... stay tuned.

If it's Monday, this must be Cabo

An incredibly obscure film reference. If anyone knows it you will win a prize. Leave the reference in a comment before we leave from Cabo and I will bring you a special treat from our adventure.

Today we made our way from the sprawling McCarthy compound to LAX for our flight to Cabo. We had to negotiate LA traffic and pick up Avery from his very exlusive private school in Downtown LA Loyola High School. Once we had him, we were on our way. But wait... Where's Avery's suitcase? Yep... Back at the house. No time to fetch it. We head to the terminal.

We saw so many celebrities it was hard to keep them all straight. I think they were all headed to Cannes or something because you couldn't swing a dead cat without hitting one.

Yes we made it to Cabo. We are here. It is quickly becoming the trip where something was lost or left or is just plain missing. Brant left Avery's suitcase at home, I left my sunglasses in Portland, Riley left his retainer case in the hotel and now... Dad picked up some other poor schmuck's bag off the airport carousel. While dad's was still sitting at the airport and we just need to go get it. Tony Truax from Benton Washington is wondering what the hell happened to his bag. Sorry Tony... Our bad.

None the less... We are here. Mom's can stop worrying. Having a great time already.

The adventure continues in LA

We made it to Los Angeles safely and uneventfully. There are celebrities everywhere and if it weren't for the smog... you might actually see them.

I forgot my sunglasses in Portland and had to go buy a new pair for the trip. I think you're going to like them. Getting them was an adventure in and of itself.

Getting there Day 1

Well the trip to Cabo this year is a little trickier than usual. With the gas crisis this summer and the airlines failing left and right, it was incredibly difficult to get flights to Mexico. Add to that the fact that we have a few newbies coming along and it really threw a wrench into the works. But none-the-less, it's all part of the adventure.
To begin the journey south we have to head north. We drove to Portland and have to stay the night in order to be at the airport early enough for our 8:00am flight to LA. So here we are at the Portland Intenational Airport Ramada Inn and Suites.
